Did my hilly neighborhood five-miler this morning in humid but not steamy conditions - nice.  Later in the week sees me hitting the 5K trail training on Thurs eve without the dog this time, and then Saturday morning is the Breakfast on the Track one mile - always a highlight of the year and the unofficial kickoff to high school XC - lazy goal of sub 5:30.

Breakfast on the track sounds fun. Of course I would be dealing with the entire football team and coaching staff and every other sport using the track unless I did it on Saturday.

Its pretty awesome. The local track club uses our track for the summer track meets and for weekly interval training, so this event is a fundraiser for our track/xc program. I think we net around $1500 or so each year. Usually 10-12 heats with 20ish runners per, and then the Hamstring Hundred to crown the club's fastest male and female runner. Yes, the award is a canned ham on a string - sweet!
