Five miles at lunch on the bridle trails in the neighborhood.  Kept it right at 8 min pace .  Right calf and left quad a bit sore last 2 runs - interesting.  I kinda think it may have been all the squatting for shooting pics on Saturday - hmmmm.

Shooting pics for a cross country meet for Travis?

Correct, and of the rest of the squad earlier in the day in Marianna - two meets for the price of one! I rambled a bit about it in Saturday's post...

Ahh...I see it now - I guess I missed that post over the weekend. Sounds like a good start for the team.

Delaney's team had their first meet at Ed Radice in Tampa on Friday - the Deja Vu meet - aka the mud bog --- She had a bit of a mediocre performance - 23:05 (and listed as "Unknown" in the race results - comically ironic)- which was about a minute and a half slower than her PR - but nevertheless 2 mins faster than last year on this course. The team did well - finishing 4th in the Open division and she took her role as team captain quite seriously - despite a disappointing finish of 6th on her own squad. I think perhaps the long slow aerobic runs over the summer with a lack of any speed or tempo workouts and maybe a few extra lbs may be her problem. We'll see if today's dual meet at Countryside renders any different results.

Well good luck to her this afternoon! Speaking of lbs - it occurs to me that dropping 8 lbs in a few days may be another reason for my lack of energy - duh. I needed to lose the weight, but not like that. No apparent lingering effects from the gastrointestinal tsunami... other than low energy after running 4 days in a row now.

Doug I noticed your Boston goal- that is one of my goals as well- but I have not even run a marathon before- several halfs, couple of tri's. I want to qualify for Boston this spring- I am going to be 39 at that race- that means a 3:10 qualifying time- any suggestions?

Hey gp. There are many other more experienced marathoners on this blog for advice, but, for what its worth, I prepared for my first marathon using the New York Road Runners training schedule (www.nycmarathon.org/training/training_schedule.htm) - the basic marathoner version. I stuck to the schedule pretty tight, and ran the vast majority of the miles at my goal marathon pace (3:30, 8 min/mi, so not very fast). I didn't have a goal of BQ for that run, and came in 6 minutes shy of the 3:20 that would have gotten me there - who knew!? Anyway - good luck!
